EXHIBITION: Fashion on Earth

Ria will be exhibiting a new piece of work and selling a select range of items at the Fashion on Earth event at Bristol Cathedral on November 6th.

See below for more information and to book your ticket:

Join Sustainable Fashion Week on Wednesday 6th November for a night exploring fashion that is created in harmony with nature.

The backdrop of Luke Jerram’s Gaia serves as a provoking reminder of the interconnectedness of all life on earth. As with any resources our society consumes, the clothing and materials we wear and dispose of have a significant impact on planetary health.

This event offers the opportunity for you to discover some of the artists, makers and organisations working towards a better fashion future. Through an inspiring evening of exhibited pieces, catwalk performance, stalls and live music we hope to encourage attendees to reframe their relationship with the clothing they wear.

There will be select items available to purchase from sustainable makers.

Price:

£10 Adult

£6 Child

About Sustainable Fashion Week Sustainable Fashion Week (SFW) unites the community nationally through the power of taking action locally. Working in collaboration, they help make sustainable fashion accessible. Taking a creative, grassroots approach, they empower people with skills and resources to help drive a shift in our collective relationship with clothes.

SFW works throughout the year to engage with citizens through different mediums, inspiring positive action in favour of a greener, cleaner and fairer fashion industry. They partner with a wide range of individuals, organisations, community groups, education providers, museums, brands and institutions to co-host a variety of events and activities to engage with a broad range of audiences and help grow a powerful movement for change.

Now in its fourth year, our annual flagship event – SFW 2024 – will see a programme of action taking place across the UK and in four international locations. With clothes swaps, workshops, talks, markets, repairs, fashion shows, activism, styling and more – hosted by the community for the community.

EXHIBITION: Fibreshed at New Brewery Arts

to 1 Apr

EXHIBITION: Fibreshed at New Brewery Arts

New Brewery Arts in Cirencester’s latest exhibition showcases the work of selected South West England Fibreshed producers, from farmers to mills, and dyers to makers.

Ria will be exhibiting new work made with her new laceweight yarn, which has been produced entirely within the South West Fibreshed region, along with a display of natural dye plants and colour samples.

Who grew your clothes?

To harness our local resources to produce anything as sophisticated as a garment of clothing involves many processes, and a network of farmers, growers, mills, manufacturers, and designers as well as advocates, activists, and bloody-minded facilitators who are determined to create a new paradigm for fashion.

Fibershed is a movement. Its goal: the development of systems from ‘soil to soil;’ where textiles are grown, processed, designed, sewn, sold, worn, and eventually composted. These processes offer a means of connecting the fashion industry with community, with society and with the environment so that they can all thrive.

This exhibition is an introduction to South West England Fibreshed.

Started in the USA, the Fibershed movement uses the American spelling ‘fiber’. UK affiliate communities follow the British spelling ‘fibre’.

Free entry. For more information visit: https://www.newbreweryarts.org.uk/main-gallery
