Bundle Dye a Sock Blank or Scarf - Friday 15th March
Bundle Dye a Sock Blank or Scarf - Friday 15th March
Friday 15th March - 10:30am-1pm, No Frills Knitting, Bedminster
Learn the bundle dyeing technique to create a naturally unique and colourful British wool sock blank.
Using a selection of seasonal, homegrown and responsibly foraged flowers and leaves, you will decorate either a sock blank (a knitted length of fabric), which we will then roll and tie together before steaming to lock in the colour. This will create a uniquely patterned yarn or scarf that you will be able to take home to knit with or wear!
The sock blank has been machine knitted by Ria in a 100% Corriedale wool yarn developed for socks. It is non-superwash and has no nylon content.
Prepared sock blank, dye materials and handouts are provided but please bring an apron and rubber gloves.
During the workshop we will also look at other ways of dyeing with plants.
Ria is a Bristol based designer who creates sustainable knitwear using local lambswool and dyed with homegrown and foraged plants.
This workshop will be held at No Frills Knitting, 15 Cannon Street, Bedminster, Bristol, BS3 1BH
Cancellation policy: We will provide a full refund for cancellations who give at least 7 days notice. If shorter notice is given, a refund will be offered if a replacement can be found for your place. As the number of students on this workshop is intentionally small, we reserve the right to cancel this workshop if there are not enough attendees - we will ensure plenty of notice is given if this occurs.
